The next time you receive an invitation to play Candy Crush, simply hover your cursor over the Facebook notification box and look to the right of the Candy Crush icon. You’ll notice a small circle to mark the notification as “read,” and a little “x” that will say “Turn Off …” when you hover over it.

Net Neutrality: Best Explaination

Posted by Abhishek Mundra 12:50 AM , No Comments
Net neutrality is an idea derived from how telephone lines have worked since the beginning of the 20th century. In case of a telephone lines, you can dial any number and connect to it. It does not matter if you are calling from operator A to operator B. It doesn't matter if you are calling a restaurant or a drug dealer: Most of the countries have rules that ask telecom operators to provide an unfiltered and unrestricted phone service.

When the internet started to take off in the 1980s and 1990s, there were no specific rules that asked that internet service provider (ISP) should follow the same principle. But, mostly because telecom operators were also ISPs, they adhered to the same principle. This principle is known as net neutrality. An ISP doesn't control the traffic that passes its servers. When a web user connects to a website or web service, he or she gets the same speed. Data rate for Youtube videos and Facebook photos is theoretically same. Some countries have rules that enforce net neutrality but most don't. Instead, the principle is followed because that is how it has always been. It is more of a norm than a law.

Actor Varun Pruthi created a video in which he tried to explain the concept of Net Neutrality in a simple yet awesome way.

10 Things You Must Do During Your College Life

Posted by Abhishek Mundra 8:54 PM No Comments

Life moves at twice the normal speed on campus. You might be in first year now but in the blink of an eye it will be time to graduate. These three-four years are the best years of our lives and they come only once. So, the last thing you need after graduating is to look back with regret at the things you didn't do in college. Here is a must-do checklist:

Go For a Batch Trip: You might get to go on a world tour or world's 10 most deadliest adventures after graduating, but it still might not be as special as a trip with your college friends. Even if it is just Digha or Santiniketan, very few things can match the memories of a batch trip.

Represent your College: Be it debating, singing, dancing, theater, quiz, creative writing, poster painting... represent your college at fests at least once. Getting the chance is a matter of immense pride. And the memories — the fun, the fights, the tears, the bonding — will be some of the best you’ll ever have.

Experience Hostel Life: You might miss the delicacies your mother cooked for you every weekend and you might hate washing your own clothes but in return you gain a whole new family for the rest of your life. Those who don’t need to stay in the hostel should hang out with their friends in the hostel for a slice of the DIY (do- it-yourself) action.

Do an Internship: Make use of the free time during term breaks by doing an internship. It is the best way to find out if you are actually cut out for the career you think you want, it lets you experience a workplace providing for a more informed choice and at the same time adds to your resume. See how a girl from a village has given an interview.

Learn a new Language: Get off your lazy bum and get yourself enrolled in a language class. It is not just a great way to spend your spare time but a great addition to your resume. This is the best time to learn it because you never know when you will get this much of free time.

Visit the College Library: This is a must — at least once — unless you want to spend the rest of your life knowing that there is a part of your college you have never been to.

Hang out with your College Professor: Getting to know a whole new ‘cool’ side of your professor who you had thought to be cranky and boring is something very few get to experience. But it is definitely something everyone should try doing in college.

Ask the girl/boy you've always liked out on a date: Getting rejected is better than regretting not having taken the chance. At least take a shot. If you get turned down, trust me, you aren't the first person to get rejected and neither will you be the last. Nowadays girls prefer to marry a software engineer guy nowadays.

Get good marks: Study is important as well. You should keep in mind that you are in college for your education and personal development and not just for fun.

Don't forget to click the pictures: You should have your memories with you. So don't forget to capture each and every moment of your college life.

Biggest Problems To Create A Product Company Like Google Or Dropbox Out Of India

Posted by Abhishek Mundra 5:41 AM , No Comments

  1. RBI - Reserve Bank of India, and it's absolutely ridiculous FEMA/FERA policies which actually blocks you from taking any financial decision which are much easier in other countries. You need huge funding, huge risks and open mindset to do such things. RBI still considers that IE is a standard web browser and if you are using Chrome/Firefox you are not web compliant !!! You can image how illiterate they are in terms of technology.

  2. Finance Mobs - Every venture capitalist or financers in India are mostly mobs, they will kill you for their return of money, VC outside India is way different then in India.

  3. Techie is slave - In Indian Business community, business owner means, not doing anything, hire slaves and not get into technical stuff of how to do things. This tendency leads people to go for only management as higher standard and not focus on technology.

  4. Backend Processing Hubs - Indian IT tech companies are not at all into products, they are all backend processing hubs charging US companies for per hour billing for absolutely mindless jobs. Most of them are only into maintenance and testing.

  5. Old Java - To my surprise whenever I visit any IT companies in India, they are still into EJB, Web Logic and all old Java which was new in year 2000.

  6. Enterprise Ego - everyone wants to work as Project Manager in an Enterprise Project, anything below Enterprise word is a huge disappointment for them. If you ask them would they prefer to work on JavaScript (which is a big topic in the industry), they feel ashamed. Developers should be open minded to use anything to build a great product.

  7. Little Knowledge - 90% of developers in India only have less 10% of knowledge about the technology that they are using.
